JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL HISTORY 1956 The Class of 1955 was the last class to go by the name of Edgewater High School. Mountair High and Edgewater High were consolidated into one district in 1955. Bob Harvey graduated from Edgewater High School in 1955. Because of Bob’s artistic talent, the school asked Bob to design the “Saint” mascot. After graduating from Colorado University in 1959, Bob continued to pursue both cartooning and journalism. The Class of 1956 was the first year of Jefferson High School at the same building on 24th and Eaton St. in Edgewater.The Class of 1959 was the first class to graduate from the new Jefferson High School building at 22nd and Pierce St. in June, 1959. Class of 1959 was the last class to attend Jefferson High School at 24th and Eaton St. The Jefferson High School building was dedicated on Sept. 23, 1959. The cost to build Jefferson High School was $1,550,000. The Class of 1960 (92 students) was the first class to attend school at the new Jefferson High School and the second class to graduate from the new building. |
